Regina police dealing with outbreak of garage break and enters

Regina police are telling homeowners to make sure their garage doors and sheds are locked and that garage door openers are removed from your vehicle if its parked on the street or driveway.

Police say there have been 28 reported break and enters in the time frame stretching from April 28 to May 5, and that 16 of them were garage break and enters. In many of them, the garage door was unlocked or open with some beginning with a garage door opener inside a vehicle visible to the thief who then breaks into the vehicle to take the opener.

You are reminded to remove garage door openers from your vehicle if it is parked on the street or driveway, to securely look all garage doors and any doors that lead into the house and to install motion sensor lights by your driveway and doors to stay safe and prevent being a victim of crime.
