UPDATE — Tragedy has hit the cross-Canada tour by the CFB Snowbirds.
On Sunday morning, two members of the team took off from the Kamloops airport heading to Kelowna as a part of “Operation Inspiration” when something went horribly wrong.
Video shows one jet turning upwards and doubling back before it hurtles to the ground where it crashed into a house.

Late Sunday afternoon, the Canadian Armed Forces confirmed one member of the Snowbirds died in the crash, later confirmed to be Captain Jenn Casey, a Public Affairs Officer with the Snowbirds who was a passenger in the plane.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that one member of the CF Snowbirds team has died and one has sustained serious injuries. We can confirm that we have contacted all primary family members of those involved. More information will be communicated in the near future.

The Snowbirds aerobatics team, the pride of 15 Wing Moose Jaw, was scheduled to do a flyover of the Okanagan area Sunday as part of Operation Inspiration. That was a salute to Canadians and front-line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic that started earlier this month in Nova Scotia. The team had flown over Regina on Thursday.
