Saskatchewan farmers made significant seeding progress this past week.
Crop extension specialist Sara Tetland says seeding progress more than doubled this past week due to few disruptions in field work.
She says seeding is at 51 percent, on track with the 5 year average.
Tetland says seeding ranges from 74 percent in the southwest to 26 percent in the northeast.
She adds “There is 59 percent seeded in the west-central area, 57 percent in the southeast, 38 percent in the northwest and 32 percent planted in the east-central region.”
She adds many farmers also completed harvesting the 2019 crop.
She says topsoil moisture is rated 2 percent surplus, 75 percent adequate, 20 percent short and three percent very short.
