A Regina man has been charged with first degree murder in connection to the death of a 54 year-old man on Fisher street that took place on Friday.

Police were called to the scene on Friday morning, and when they arrived, they saw a man flee the scene on foot. Inside the residence, they found the deceased man as well as a 53 year-old woman who had non-life threatening injuries. The deceased man has been identified as 54 year-old Jones Oakes.

Further investigation has led to the arrest to 31 year-old Joseph Oakes, who is charged with first degree murder and assault with a weapon.

The accused made his first court appearance Monday morning.
