Busy afternoon for Regina City Council coming up with several items of discussion on agenda

Regina City Council meets today with two items in particular up for debate.

One centers around the proposed construction of a Sobey’s Liquor store on 13th and Retallack in an area that has not been developed for years.

Some in the community feel the store is not needed as it would not contribute to a positive family-style neighbourhood.

The other issue involves a stretch of Osler Street that runs past the police station.

Police would like to close off a portion of the street and is asking council to consider a rezoning application which would see their current building connect with the former STC depot building which was purchased for 16 million dollars after STC ceased operations.

Councillors will also discuss a bylaw regulating the use of plastic bags in the City.
