Reginans can still park for free when visiting downtown area

The City of Saskatoon has resumed its practice of having people pay at the meter,  but those in Regina don’t know when they will be doing the same.

Plugging the meter became a thing of the past in March when protocols aimed at limiting the spread of the COVID-19 virus were first announced as enforcement was called off.

While that is still the case, the City can not say when paying for parking will resume.

As we begin to re-open City services, we are monitoring the parking demand and turnover in relation to the Saskatchewan Re-open plan. Currently we do not have a planned date as to when parking enforcement will be reinstated. Advance notice of the plan will be provided to ensure residents are aware of enforcement activities” Dawn Schikowski, Manager of Parking & Licencing Services said. “Our top priority continues to be the health and safety of the community and our employees. We continue to respond to this rapidly changing situation while ensuring the continued delivery of City services that residents can count on.”

There are over 1200 parking meters in Regina for people to access when needed.
