(Jamie) Time To Put That Gel Back Where It Belongs

This morning after work I’m finally off to see my good friend Linda to get my hair cut. I can’t remember the last time I got a cut. It was probably before our trip to Cuba back at the end of January. Like a lot of people, I’m just a little overdue!

For the last month or so I’ve had to resort to using gel again just to tame that mop on top of my head. I had two choices as my hair got longer. I could plaster on the gel and go for the old Conway Twitty look or I could go gel-less and look like Lyle Lovett. There is no in between. There is no such thing as a Conway Lovett or Lyle Twitty look. It had to be one or the other and, with all due respect to Mr. Lovett, I chose the Twitty style. Plus, if I employed the Lyle Lovett look, there was always the chance that Julia Roberts might come knocking on my door and I just couldn’t do that to my wife.

When I get home after my haircut I’ll hold a solemn service for my bottle of hair gel that served me so honorably for the last month or so. I’ll lay it back in the bottom of the drawer, where I found it, and bid it adieu.

Until the next pandemic my friend, rest comfortably. And, thank you.
