Great Plains College to offer MELT training online

Great Plains College has become the first organization in Saskatchewan to offer part of their semi-trucking program through virtual learning.

The college, which has campuses in Swift Current, Kindersley and Warman, says this was needed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Region Manager Fritz Eckstein says there are no safety concerns while offering the theory portion training virtually.

“It echoes, or mirrors, the face-to-face, offering exactly the same training,” said Eckstein. “We are very fortunate to have an SGI instructor and examiner on staff to ensure the education, or the training, isn’t compromised in any way.”

After completing the online theory portion, students would then go to the driving school of their choice to complete 74 and-a-half hours of training.

Anyone interested in this course is asked to register online before June 15th.
