SaskPower to build facility that will house employees currently working in five locations

Construction is expected to start later this year on a warehouse complex for SaskPower at the Global Transportation Hub.

The crown company says the complex will bring together employees at five locations in Regina and Lumsden that when completed will house service and support operations including logistics, metering, fleet safety and distribution and transmission operations.

Construction costs for the first phase of the project are an estimated $100 million.

SaskPower says the costs for constructing and operating the new facility will be lower in terms of maintenance requirements and avoidance of costly renovations to existing facilities that are nearing the end of life and would need extensive upgrades.

This is a part of a strategy SaskPower has to consolidate its properties with that strategy seeing them having six locations instead of the 13 it has now.
