The Saskatchewan government has announced 28 million dollars to improve rural roads in 36 rural municipalities this year.
The provincial funding will cover up to 50 percent of total project costs to a maximum of 500 thousand dollars.
This is the first year of a 3 year plan with the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities to improve 100 rural roads through the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth Program.
SARM president Ray Orb says many rural roads are in dire need of investments to alleviate the stress on current infrastructure.
He says the funds will help build rural roads, bridges and culverts.
