The former Jean Vanier School in Regina has been renamed.
It is now known as St. Maria Faustina School.
The name of the school came into question after it was determined earlier this year that Vanier, who was a highly respected Catholic figure, had sexually assaulted several women between 1970 and 2005.
In a release, board chair Bob Kowalchuk says “St. Faustina is the Patron Saint of Mercy, and mercy is something we all need and that her visions and healing are well-known, even though she’s a relatively new saint.
