It was another night of severe thunderstorm activity across parts of Saskatchewan on Tuesday, with hail being the main concern.

Environment Canada’s Brad Vroijk said stones as large as golf balls were seen north of Regina.

“We got a report last night out of Southey, and they had very large hail, they saw golf ball sized hail yesterday evening, and that was the main threat yesterday,” he said.

Vrolijk added Lumsden saw nickle sized hail, while stones closer to loonie sized were recorded near Mortlach.

“At the point you get to nickle sized hail you can start seeing damage to plants, once you get to loonie sized even quarters you can see damage to shingles or anything metal like a barbecue, and once you get up to golf balls then yes you can see damage to all sorts of different things,” said Vrolijk.

Vrolijk added for Wednesday morning there is some non severe thunderstorm activity north of Regina and closer to the Humboldt and Wynyard region, that will continue to track north throughout the morning.

Southeastern Saskatchewan could see non severe thunderstorms later in the afternoon and into the evening on Wednesday.
