Western Canadian Wheat Growers upset with federal minister of Agriculture

The Western Wheat Growers Association is upset with the federal minister of Agriculture.

Last week, Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau turned down a request for a carbon tax rebate on grain drying, calling the amount insignificant.

Western Canadian Wheat Growers President Gunter Jochum disagrees, and wants her replaced.

He says the department of agriculture averaged the costs across all farmers.

He says not all farmers had to dry their grain last fall, but for those who did dry their grain, costs were substantial.

Jochum does not expect the Minister to reconsider her decison.

He says Bibeau should not be the minister of Agriculture.
