The NDP accuses the SaskParty government of being ill-prepared to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opposition leader Ryan Meili says this month’s budget offers little to support the economy or the health care system.
He says the budget has not changed from March, before the COVID-19 pandemic reached this province.
He says there is no serious attempt at economic recovery or new funding to deal with new challenges.
However, finance minister Donna Harpauer says there is 5 percent more funds for the health ministry.
She adds savings from cancelled elective procedures will be re-deployed to deal with the COVID-19 outbreak.
Harpauer adds there’s increases for additional surgeries in the budget.
As well, she adds the province has an economic recovery plan which includes a 200 million dollar contingency fund for any emergency.
