SaskEnergy is hoping to help out low-income homeowners in the province with the return of their Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP).
Back for a fourth year, the program gives families a chance to receive a home heating tune-up done from one of SaskEnergy’s network members for free along with other perks like furnace filters, a carbon monoxide alarm and up to $100 in repairs if required. The service value per household is up to $300.
Eligible homeowners must have a combined annual income of no more than $68,000. Renters and rental properties are not eligible for the offer.
Sam Gross, customer solutions leader with SaskEnergy, says the maintenance package will see furnaces get cleaned up and be ready to go once the mercury drops.
“Regardless of the age of your equipment, you should be getting your furnace checked every year,” she explained. “It increases the lifespan of your equipment and it can save you money from potentially having costly repairs.”
Gross mentioned how the program continues to grow each and every year as more people look to have their home ready for the Saskatchewan winter months. In 2019, TAP assisted 401 homeowners in 36 different communities.
For this year, participation is open to residents in 25 Saskatchewan communities including Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, Emerald Park and Weyburn.
“Any interested homeowner can apply online on our website, through a network member or by calling our customer service line,” added Gross.
