Rebellion Brewing disappointed to be left out of lower production tax rate

Effective Wednesday, there is a lower production tax rate for regional brewers in Saskatchewan.
Breweries producing 200,000 to 400,000 hectolitres of beer will save about $10-million. Meanwhile, smaller craft breweries such as Rebellion Brewing have been left out of the tax break.
President and CEO Mark Heise says it was an interesting announcement from the province.
“I’ve seen the list of some of the breweries that benefit from it,” said Heise.”In the meantime, it does mean that we’re now at a bit of a competitive disadvantage with some very, very large breweries, so we’ll have to try and make the best of that.”
Heise says this tax costs his business roughly 100 thousand dollars per year.
Help could be on the horizon, as Heise says the SLGA is currently reviewing the tax rates for craft breweries.
