Regina man faces threats charges after Garnet Street incident Saturday night

Regina Police have charged a man with uttering threats after an incident on Garnet Street Saturday night that saw the SWAT team be called to the scene.

Police were called to the 1400 block of Garnet Street for a report of a man who allegedly reportedly threatened two people with a bladed weapon and entered a residence on the block.

When police arrived, officers heard what was believed top be gunshots in the area. Police set up a perimeter in the area and attempt to call the suspect out of the house.

The SWAT team was also called to the scene. Officers attempted to negotiate with the suspect, and while he did leave the home, he refused to cooperate with police commands.

The suspect allegedly threatened to shoot police officers at the scene with a gun in his possession. At about 12:15 AM, the suspect again exited the residence, but this time was taken into custody by the canine team. The suspect was bitten by a police dog, and was taken to hospital by EMS for his injuries.

A search of the residence discovered a machete, but no firearm.

21 year-old Caleb Pelletier faces on charge of uttering threats. He will appear in court on August 27th.
