Cenotaph monument and Sir John A. MacDonald statue vandalized in Victoria Park

Both the Cenotaph monument and Sir John A. MacDonald statue have been vandalized in Regina’s Victoria Park.

The vandalism was first spotted on Wednesday, but at this time it’s not known when the acts occurred.

The acts come at a time when the City of Regina has said it’s reviewing what to do with the statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister, adding his questionable actions in the past represented harm to some people.

A sign is currently sitting at the statue of MacDonald announcing the city’s current stance on it.

The City has said on more than one occasion they are currently in consultations with Indigenous leaders and elders along with artists.

Police are aware of the vandalism and are investigating the incidents.
