Sask launches 11 water management demo projects

The Saskatchewan government has outlined a million dollar comprehensive study of water management in the province.

Lyle Stewart is the legislative secretary to the minister for the Water Security Agency.

Stewart says there are 11 water management demonstration projects to be undertaken across Saskatchewan.

Stewart says areas of farm research and demonstration include crop management to reduce downstream flooding and effect on wildlife habitat.

Stewart says 10 farm and research related organizations are participating in the water management and flood reduction demonstration projects.

The majority of the 11 ag water management demonstrations are located in eastern Saskatchewan, but there are also sites at Dodsland, Davidson and Langham.

It will take between three and five years for these projects to yield scientific data.
