Flair Airlines a new ultra low cost carrier is coming to Regina in August

After months of talking about the major downturn COVID-19 has brought on Regina’s airport, on Thursday some good news was announced.

A new ultra low cost airline will be operating out of Regina come August 24th.

Flair Airlines will offer cheap flights on Monday and Friday to Vancouver and Toronto.

Regina Airport Authority President and CEO James Bogusz says the demand for an ultra low cost carrier has been present for a significant amount of time.

He said Flair has been around for a few years now operating with success.

“They’ve been offering service for generally larger city hubs so your Vancouver and Toronto’s, they also operate out of Kelowna and other cities slightly larger than Regina,” he said.

“We had been actively marketing to them for the better part of two years, and it’s just nice to see they finally are considering our market.”

Bogusz said with COVID-19 all but shutting down the airport this announcement means just that much more.

He also says passenger numbers for domestic travelers continues to slowly rise, but remains well short of pre-COVID-19 numbers.
