Regina Mayor weighs in on potential mask mandate

The City of Calgary has moved towards making masks mandatory in all public spaces coming up this Saturday.
It’s something not currently being considered by the City of Regina according to Mayor Michael Fougere.
He says they are taking their direction on that topic from the Chief Medical Health Officer and Saskatchewan Health Authority.
“I think we need to be careful, and follow what’s happening,” said Fougere. “We know we’ve had a lot of cases over the last couple of days, and we need to remain vigilant. I hope that people will continue to, even more so, follow the guidelines from the Chief Medical Health Officer by keeping social distance, particularly indoors, and if you can’t keep that distance, put a mask on.”
Fougere says with only a few active cases in the Regina region, there would need to be a significant jump in cases in order for city council to start that conversation.
