Regina man charged after allegedly chasing woman down street with firearms in his backpack

Regina Police say a 32-year-old man is facing weapons charges after an incident on Tuesday.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m. officers were called to the 2800 block of Dewdney Avenue, initial investigations revealed the suspect was chasing a woman down the street when an object that looked like a gun fell out of his backpack.

The man was then seen by police leaving a building, he initially tried to flee but was arrested shortly after.

One firearm turned out to be BB gun however a sawed off .22 caliber rifle was also found inside the backpack.

As a result Bruce Ray Taypotat has been charged with storing firearms contrary to regulations, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon and unauthorized possession of a firearm.

Taypotat will make his first court appearance on Wednesday.
