Teachers will not be instructed to work at polling stations according to STF

Teachers will not be asked to work the polls when a provincial election comes this fall.

The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation confirmed that education providers will not be mandated or assigned to work at polling stations.

School divisions will be providing access to schools on election day, but Elections Saskatchewan will be responsible for cleaning and disinfecting measures before staff and students return to classes after the election according to the STF.

Schools will be closed on October 26th to ensure the election can be done safely. Work is being done to determine a place for advance voting from October 20th to the 24th, but if no other facilities can be made available, school gymnasiums will also be used for voting.
