Some crop specialists are predicting a large prairie harvest and CN Rail says it’s prepared to move a big crop to market this fall and winter.
CN executive vice president Sean Finn says CN has raised its weekly grain movement targets to 7,600 hopper cars outside of winter and close to 6,000 during winter months.
Finn says the first of 1,500 new high capacity grain hopper cars will be delivered in January to support economic recovery and grain movement.
CN set a new record by moving more than 30-million metric tons of grain across the country during the crop year ending July 31st, including more than 28-million tons from Western Canada.
