Six more heat records fall across Saskatchewan Thursday

Heat Warnings have ended for Saskatchewan, but not after six more records fell on Thursday.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Mark Melsness, says records were broken in Assiniboia at 35.3 (33.3), Elbow 35.5 (34.4), Last Mountain 33.3 (30.6), Lucky Lake 34.2 (32.5) and Weyburn 34.1 (34.0).

For a third day in a row Regina also broke a record climbing to 34.7, beating out 33.9 set back in 1961.

Melsness says while the Heat Warning has been dropped, temperatures will still be in the high 20’s and low 30’s over the coming days, just shy of warning thresholds.

He adds there is slightly more humidity in the air, meaning showers and thunderstorms could develop in southeast Saskatchewan later in the day Thursday.
