NDP leader Ryan Meili has broken his silence on the Regina Walsh Acres nomination.
Sandra Morin was first nominated for the seat in May of 2019, but did not receive an endorsement from Meili, and therefore will not run for the New Democrats.
Despite Morin’s claim that she was not given a reason why she didn’t receive an endorsement, Meili says the former candidate was given reasons why her nomination was removed multiple times verbally and was also communicated through a letter.
Meili goes on to say it’s his responsibility to ensure the people of the Walsh Acres constituency the best possible choice to represent them, and they will continue with their search for a proper candidate.
Morin held the seat under Lorne Calvert’s government from 2003 until being defeated by Warren Steinley in 2011. The seat is currently empty after Steinley left the constituency for federal politics.
