SK’s Chief Electoral Officer says 2020 provincial election to run as scheduled

There will be no delay in a provincial election scheduled for next month.

Chief Electoral Officer Michael Boda says preparations will continue based on public health advice from Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab and provincial electoral stakeholders.

Boda has written to Premier Scott Moe saying there is no reason why plans to hold the election should not continue and that Saskatchewan people should prepare to cast their vote as scheduled on Monday, October 26.

In a release, Boda says “This conclusion was formed, in part, based on the advice and information provided by an electoral advisory group. It was also informed by input from the chief official agents of the province’s registered political parties, as well as from Elections Saskatchewan’s field leadership team throughout the province and our head office leadership team here in Regina.”
