The provincial government is reporting six more cases of COVID-19 in the province as of Thursday, September 10.
New cases are located in each of the Far North, Saskatoon, Central West, Central East and Regina zones. The sixth case’s location is pending.
Reported cases now stand at 1,676 with 59 considered active. With six more recoveries, the total recovery count increases to 1,593 people.
There is one person in hospital in ICU in Saskatoon.

Provincial Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Saqib Shahab spoke on the provincial situation Thursday saying he likes where the province is at, especially when you compare it to other western provinces that are experiencing a spike in numbers.
“Thankfully we haven’t seen that in Saskatchewan, but we need to obviously understand why transmission picks up and what we need to do proactively to prevent the numbers from going up in Saskatchewan.” Shahab said.
The CMHO adds with schools starting up again that it is imperative for business to be flexible and understanding parents may not be able to come in for their shift as they have to look after an ailing child.
The government added that if an outbreak is declared at a school, all parents of that school will receive notification and the declaration will be posted to the government’s website.
Shahab also revealed that with students back in the classroom, more detailed numbers aimed at school-aged children will be provided starting next week.
Shahab is cautioning everyone that numbers could rise as more students are being tested, but he feels the 0-19 age group is one that should be looked at carefully now that school is back and ask the necessary questions including whether or not transmission is happening inside the school or the community.
The first report will be available on September 17 with the numbers collected being for the first week of school which started September 8.
