This weekend on Made in Saskatchewan we feature Hudson Bay native Kalsey Kulyk. She just released a new song titled “Who I Was,” a song that talks about staying true to oneself and not listening to those who try to change you and try to make you be someone or something else.
“Sometimes people want you to be a certain way and it’s completely different from who you are, so you kind of do it for a while until you realize ‘hey wait a minute, that’s not me at all’ and I have definitely gone through that as an artist,” explained Kulyk.
She has recently been nominated for Roots Album of the Year at the CCMA’s, which will be handed out on September 27th, and is already working on a new album which will include her latest single “Who I Was.” Kulyk says the album is in the early stages yet as she and her team pick out songs for the project. She admits it will be quite different from her previous work and she hopes fans will see her growth and maturity and the new album.
