The City of Regina began accepting nominations on Tuesday for the upcoming civic election.
Mayor Michael Fougere, who is seeking a third term as mayor, said this year’s mayoral candidates are all viable.
“They are all bringing ideas to the table and I think it’s great because it gives people choices,” shared Fougere. “Obviously I would like to be in the position as mayor again and I have been working hard to do that.”
Fougere’s competitors for mayor include Sandra Masters, Tony Fiacco, Jerry Flegel, Mitchell Howse, Darren Bradley, Jim Elliott and George Wooldridge.
“I ask people to look at the platforms, listen to what they say and judge accordingly,” added Fougere.
And for those who are sitting on the fence when it comes to possibly running in the election, Fougere said it’s a great opportunity for people to seriously consider.
“It’s an honour and privilege to be elected to help represent this city and move us forward. I admire anyone who wants to put their name forward and help make us a better city.”
Nomination submissions will be open until October 7. Citizens will place their votes for mayor, city councillors and school board candidates on November 9.
