After being in Saskatoon Wednesday morning, NDP leader Ryan Meili then visited Prince Albert in the afternoon and pledged that a New Democratic government would do two things that matter to families in Prince Albert.
One is building a new bridge and the second being the building of a complete, new hospital for the city. Meili says the N-D-P would stand against the Sask Party’s agenda of austerity and cuts.
Meili also committed to ensuring the projects would be done by Saskatchewan companies hiring Saskatchewan workers.
However, the Saskatchewan Party had some questions about the announcement.
In a news release sent out late Wednesday afternoon, the Sask. Party questioned how an NDP government planned to pay for the bridge and hospital, adding the NDP also did not disclose costs of the projects.
The Sask. Party then stated afterwards that they estimate a new hospital would cost $500 million, while a new bridge would cost $150 million.
The Sask. Party has also committed to building a new bridge in Prince Albert if it is cost-shared with the federal government, and also spent $300 million for an additional to the existing Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert.
