The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit has charged a man from Saskatoon with child pornography offences resulting from an investigation that began in May 2020.
Investigators found that a person was using multiple online accounts to share child pornography through a popular social media chat application.
On July 9, 2020, members of the ICE Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Saskatoon that was identified as the location of where the offences were taking place. No child pornography was located, but members seized a mobile phone for further analysis.
A forensic sweep of the mobile device located evidence of the offences.
31-year-old Brandon Crowe was arrested on October 5 and charged with the following:
• Three counts of possessing child pornography;
• Two counts of distributing child pornography; and
• Making available child pornography.
Crowe appeared in court on October 5 in Saskatoon on October 5 and was released from custody on numerous conditions. He is scheduled to reappear on October 21.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the internet.
