Farm Credit Canada in Regina contributing $100k to school meal programs across Canada

Regina-based Farm Credit Canada is contributing $100,000 to school meal programs across Canada to help alleviate hunger.

The manager of Community Investment, Carla Warnyca, says FCC is supporting meal programs offered at 100 schools across Canada as part of a drive away hunger campaign.

She explains how 100 schools will receive $1,000 each from the program.

“They are based on need. We reach out to the local FCC offices and ask them to choose schools where they feel there is a real need,” said Warnyca. “We try to move it around every year to make sure we support as many kids as we possibly can.”

This is the fourth year FCC is supporting the school meal program.

“We really don’t think any child should go to school and try to learn on an empty stomach,” added Warnyca. “It’s really important to support those school feeding programs and the great programs that are happening with food banks across the country.”

On Thursday, FCC is also hosting a drive through drop off for cash and food donations that will go to the Regina Food Bank.
