Unwanted farm chemicals are being collected at 20 sites across southern Saskatchewan this month.
The western business manager for the non-profit group Cleanfarms, Shane Henderson, says there is no cost to farmers.
He says farmers should contact their farm chemical retailer to determine the closest drop-off location for obsolete pesticide and livestock medications.
“The material itself cannot be recycled, if you think of some of the agricultural products that used to be used years and years ago, a lot of its not even used anymore,” said Henderson. “We make sure that it’s safely disposed of through high-temperature incineration.”
The unwanted farm chemicals can be dropped off at 20 locations in southern Saskatchewan from October 26th to 30th.
