Two Moose Jaw residents facing several firearms charges in Regina

Two Moose Jaw residents are facing firearms charges after a suspicious vehicle call in the city’s northwest end resulted in a firearms investigation.

Police were called to the Boyce Street area just after 9:00 PM on Friday night. Preliminary investigation discovered a wrapped up firearm being spotted inside the suspect vehicle.

After a brief discussion with the occupants of the vehicle, police were able to do a search, finding a modified firearm behind the driver’s seat. Both suspects were arrested, and a search of the female suspect found a quantity of drugs in her possession.

48 year-old Chad Giroux and 34 year-old Angela Currie are both charged with the following:

– Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition storage of a firearm

– Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public

– Possession of a prohibited Firearm

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing it was unauthorized

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle

– Tampering with a serial number of a firearm

As well, Currie is charged with two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order, and two counts of possession of a scheduled substance.

Both suspects appeared in court Tuesday morning.
