The president of the Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association is stepping down from his post after two and a half years.
Bill Huber of Lipton says it has been an honour and a privilege to serve as president of the Stock Growers.
He says the job has been challenging and rewarding and its time to step back.
He says one of the key issues during his presidency was the approval of the new Canada-U.S.-Mexico trade deal.
He says it is an extremely important trade deal for livestock producers in Saskatchewan.
Huber says other key issues are the continued growth of the livestock industry in Saskatchewan and ongoing challenges from the coronavirus.
He pointed to set-aside programs for marketing cattle during the pandemic as well as enhancements to coverage under the Western Livestock Price Insurance Program.
He also welcomes the new irrigation project expansion proposed for Lake Diefenbaker.
