Sask. producers to benefit from federal Emergency Business Account program

Saskatchewan livestock producers are expected to benefit from Ottawa’s expanded Emergency Business Account program.

Saskatchewan Cattlemen’s Association chair Arnold Balicki says the interest free loan will enable producers to delay selling their livestock until prices show improvement.

He says prices usually drop during the busy fall calf marketing period.

The federal government introduced the $40,000 interest free loan to support small business during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Cattlemen’s Association holds a virtual fall meeting on Wednesday October 28th at 1:00 p.m. to discuss several issues, including farm business risk programs, irrigation, livestock research and the Western Livestock Price Insurance Program.
