Regina man charged after recent robbery and assaults

Regina Police investigations into an October 21st robbery and later an assault on the 25th has led to numerous charges against a 27-year-old man.

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning officers were sent to a downtown hotel paring lot for the report of an assault on a commissionaire.

When police arrived the suspect had already fled on foot, however and area check found a person who matched the suspects description, that person was arrested without further incident.

Police say while being searched it’s alleged the suspect had cocaine and ammunition with him.

Officers also say that while the suspect was being interview, he allegedly assaulted an officer.

Meanwhile on October 21st a 19-year-old man called police to report that he’d been robbed while he was going home after work.

Preliminary investigation indicated the suspect walked with the victim then after some distance produced a knife before taking the victims backpack and phone.

Police were able to obtain a surveillance video that showed the incident, which led to the confirmation of the suspects identity.

As a result, 27-year-old Nathaniel Runns has been charged with assault, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to order, possession of a scheduled substance (cocaine), assaulting a peace officer, robbery, failing to comply with a conditions of release order and three counts of breach of probation.

Runns made his first court appearance Monday morning.
