Ryan Meili’s prediction of retaining Saskatoon-Meewasin seat appears to have come to fruition

It looks as if NDP leader Ryan Meili was correct when he predicted that he would hang on to his seat in Saskatoon-Meewasin.

After trailing the Sask. Party’s Rylund Hunter by less than 100 votes with one ballot box remaining, Meili is now ahead by just over 200 votes with Elections Saskatchewan reporting all boxes counted.

However there are still around 500 mail in ballots to be counted.

With Meili winning his constituency, it would mean he has avoided the same fate as Dwain Lingenfelter in 2011 and Cam Broten in 2016, when both party leaders lost their respective ridings.

However the Sask. Party still hold a strong fourth straight majority with 49 seats to the NDP’s 12.

A final count is set for November 7th with final results expected soon after that.
