Access Communications Pumpkin Patrol returns to Saskatchewan communities

The Access Communications Pumpkin Patrol is back for another year.

Spokesperson Fran Moran says this is a tradition that began in 1997.

“We have Access staff and volunteers cruise the streets in Pumpkin Patrol vehicles,” Moran said. These are marked with flashing orange lights, glow-in-the-dark signage, and they are out Halloween evening this Saturday from 5:00-8:00 PM.”

Moran describes how it works.

“If trick-or-treaters need help, they can approach any one of our Pumpkin Patrol vehicles and flag us down,” Moran said. “We have a direct link to local law enforcement, and we will contact them on those kids’ behalf.”

Moran says it’s just one of the ways Access is giving back to the community.

“I think it’s very much a community-focused initiative, it’s about keeping kids safe, and about just making sure that everyone is able to enjoy what is a community event.”

The pumpkin patrol will be out in 11 communities across Saskatchewan, including Regina.

Moran says families heading out Saturday night should check the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s website for up to date information on COVID-19 guidelines when it comes to trick-or-treating.
