The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is looking forward to some of the campaign promises from the Saskatchewan Party coming to fruition.

CFIB’s vice-president of Western Canada & Agri-business, Marilyn Braun-Pollon, says in a pre-election survey of its members, 66 per cent of Saskatchewan small business wanted temporary corporate income tax relief to stimulate economic recovery, and that is one of the promises from the SaskParty government.

The party campaigned on the promise that it would reduce the rate from two per cent to zero, retroactive from October 1st for two years and then the rate would rise to one per cent on July 1st of 2022, returning to two per cent a year later.

The CFIB is also in favour of reducing SaskPower bills by ten per cent for a year and expanding reliable internet service across the province.

Braun-Pollon adds that the CFIB will continue to work with the NDP in its role as the Official Opposition as well, to give independent business owners a greater voice.
