A 28-year-old man who was on remand at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre was found unresponsive in his cell and was declared deceased at 1:10 a.m. Monday morning.

The Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service are investigating. The Ministry of Corrections and Policing are also conducting an internal investigation.

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing says this dead is not related to COVID-19 and foul play is not suspected at this time.
