Regina man facing several charges after vehicle theft and alleged attempted murder near Al Ritchie neighbourhood

Regina police have charged a man in connection to an armed robbery and an attempted murder that took place back on October 23rd.

Police were first notified of an armed robbery that took place just east of the city by RCMP. At about 9:00 PM, the suspect vehicle was located by RPS driving in the Al Ritchie neighbourhood.

A chase ensued, with the suspect allegedly firing gun shots at an unmarked police car during the chase. A spike belt was deployed at the intersection of Victoria Avenue and Broad Street, where a taser was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody after a brief stay in hospital to treat unrelated injuries.

27 year-old Maxime Boucher of Regina faces several charges in connection to a number of thefts. He’s been charged with the following:

  • Attempt Murder with a Prohibited Weapon;
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition;
  • Possession of a Prohibited Firearm contrary to order;
  • Using a Firearm in the Commission of an Offence;
  • Possession of Ammunition contrary to order;
  • Breach of Release Order; and
  • Possession of Stolen Auto (Ford Taurus) under $5,000.

*The above charges are in connection to the Oct. 23 events that led to Boucher’s arrest.

In connection with a vehicle recovered on Oct. 25, stolen sometime after 11:00 a.m. Oct. 22:

  • Theft of Auto; and
  • Breach of Release Order.

In connection with a theft of auto on Oct. 14:

  • Theft of Auto; and
  • Breach of Release Order.

In connection with an Oct. 12 robbery:

  • Robbery; and
  • Breach of Release Order.

In connection with a counterfeiting incident on Sept. 15:

  • Uttering Counterfeit Money; and
  • Breach of Release Order.

Boucher will appear in court Wednesday morning.
