Fire destroys elevator at Torquay, southeast of Regina

Its a sad time for the small community of Torquay, about 190 kilometers southeast of Regina near the U.S. border.

A post on the Vanishing Sentinels page by Norma and Glen Patton says one of the Torquay grain elevators burned down at 1:30 Wednesday morning.

The fire spread to some nearby fields.

As the Pattons write, grain elevators are an important part of prairie farm towns as it holds grain and a historical landmark.

They write the smaller elevator was lost in the fire.
