Fougere writes note of thanks to Reginans

Regina is waking up to a new mayor on Wednesday morning.

After serving in civic politics in Regina for 23 years both as a councillor and mayor, Michael Fougere’s tenure came to an end Tuesday night as his attempt to become a three-term mayor was halted by Sandra Masters.

On Wednesday morning, Fougere went to his Facebook page to say thank you.

Fougere is also telling his successor that he is more than willing to provide some advice if needed.

Speaking after his defeat, Fougere said he told Masters in a congratulatory phone call that she is free to phone him at any time if help is needed and she wants to speak about the issues that she will face being a first-time mayor.
