Saskatchewan business applauds government’s decision to avoid second lockdown

A group of 34 business organizations in Saskatchewan including the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce, the Saskatchewan Hotel and Hospitality Association, Economic Development Regina and the Chamber of Commerce in many provincial municipalities are thanking the government.

One of those 34 is the Regina and District Chamber of Commerce. CEO John Hopkins says there was a real worry that a second lockdown was coming which would have been disasterous for Saskatchewan families.

“A lot of businesses still haven’t recovered from the first lockdown.” Hopkins said. “If they would have been shut down now, I don’t think a lot would have lasted and it would have been catastrophic.”

With many about to start Christmas shopping soon, Hopkins is hoping you think about them because of what they mean to the local economy.

“A lot have developed an online presence and many are offering curbside pickup so it is an option you should consider to help these people out because they are your friends and neighbours who have been struggling.” Hopkins said.
