Indian Head trying to cope with COVID-19 cases in community

There is a lot of worry in the town of Indian Head, about 45 minutes east of Regina, because many people have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

It has resulted in learning at both the elementary and high school to be done remotely and visitation rights being restricted at long-term care homes and the hospital.

Mayor Steven Cole says as one would imagine, there is a great deal of concern.

“Everyone is worried about where it came from, but right now that doesn’t matter. ” Cole said. “It’s here, we need to flatten it and bring it under control.  This is a town that is an older community with a lot of elderly people so we need to take care of them and our frontline workers.  We are doing what we can, but we need to follow the guidelines that have been put out including wearing masks. We need to follow those rules.”

Cole credits business owners for going above and beyond by those who can shut their doors doing so for a short-time so that contact is limited.  He is optimistic numbers will start to fall in the near future and that life can go on in what is as normal a fashion as possible very soon.
