High ranking SHA official suggests anti-maskers should trade spots with her

Monday is the first day of new measures announced by the province on Friday, with one of those measures now calling for masks to be worn in indoor places in 59 different communities that represent over 65 percent of the population.

During Friday’s news conference, Saskatoon’s Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. Susan Shaw, spoke about her experiences working as a physician in Saskatoon hospitals with COVID-19 patients, as she delivered a plea for everyone to adhere to what is being asked and wear a mask.

To those who don’t, Shaw had this message.

“If you’re not willing to do it, when it’s recommended, then I invite you to trade places or join me for those conversations with family members whose loved ones are so sick and are at risk and are dying,” Shaw said.  When people come to the hospital, they often beg us to do everything you can. And now we are begging in return, do everything you can limit your bubble as small as possible. Wash your hands regularly comply with all the public health orders.”

On Sunday, the province announced 62 people are in hospital with 16 in intensive care.  Of those 16, seven are in Saskatoon and three are in Regina.

There are 1,807 active cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, after 489 were announced Saturday and Sunday.
