The city wants to end any confusion people may have over used PPE like gloves and masks that are being discarded at home.
Kurtis Doney is the city’s director of waste, water and the environment. He says those items should not get into blue recycling bins.
“We are seeing more masks and gloves ending up at our recycling processor.” Doney said. “That can be problematic if workers aren’t able to remove them as it will clog up the equipment. So far, so good when it comes to that, but we are just asking people to bag these items and put it into the brown garbage bin.”
Doney adds those that don’t know what goes where can always go to the city’s website to get the answer they need.
