Police say a 17-year-old girl that fled to Calgary is back in Regina to face charges including vehicle theft, abducting a young child and assault with a weapon.
Shortly after 8:00 p.m. on November 21st, police were called to the 2100 block of Albert Street for the report of a vehicle theft in progress.
Officers say a 31-year-old woman who had her four-year-old child with her, was giving three younger girls a ride. When the woman stepped out of her vehicle for a brief moment one of the passengers got behind the wheel and attempted to drive away, also allegedly trying to run the woman over in the process.
A few minutes later the young child was abandoned on the side of the road, the child was found unharmed by two people who then called police.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named because of her age was also arrested in Calgary on an unrelated manner, she was returned to Regina on Monday and faces four charges including assault with a weapon, theft of auto and abduction of a child under 14.
The accused made her first court appearance Tuesday morning.
